FAQs

It is natural to have questions. I have put some answers to the most common questions below. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me and I will be happy to answer any queries you have.

What is counselling?

Counselling is a collaboration between the client and the counsellor, in which a non-judgemental and empathic relationship is established. It is a confidential, accepting and trusting safe space which enables you to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. It allows you to tell your story and talk about what is bothering or concerning you.

What happens after I contact you?

I will contact you and will arrange an initial free 15 minute consultation which gives us an opportunity to say hello, discuss how I can support you, and make sure we are comfortable working together before arranging your first chargeable full session.

What happens in the first session?

After the initial consultation has been done and we are both happy to work together I will contact you to arrange and agree the time and place of your first session. During that session we will go through a counselling agreement that helps set out the boundaries of the counselling process together, a privacy statement and we also complete an assessment of your needs.

Where do I have my counselling?

In addition to offering in-person sessions in a cosy airy log cabin, overlooking my garden, I can also offer sessions online (eg Teams) as well as walk and talk outdoors and on the telephone .

For online counselling I will send you a new link every week that you can use to connect to our scheduled session.

For walk and talk we agree to meet at a determined location, local to Canterbury, and walk an agreed route.

For telephone counselling I will telephone you at the agreed time and date.

How much does it cost?

Information on my fees is located here

What happens if I can’t make a session?

We all know that sometimes things come up and you may not be able to make your regular scheduled appointment. All I request is that you give me 48 hours notice to avoid cancellation fees.

Where are you located?

If you are interested in in-person sessions or walk and talk, I am located just outside of Canterbury in Kent in the UK.
